Hace
algo más de un año, adquirí este número de la revista Wargames Illustrated,
aunque llevaba ya tiempo viendola en las estanterías de tiendas especialidas en
wargames.
En
este numero de la sólo habla de como pintar las minituras. Realmente es un
recopilatorio de diferentes artículos ya aparecidos en deferentes numeros de la
revista, realizados por varios habituales de la revista.
A
little over a year ago, I acquired this issue of Wargames Illustrated magazine,
although I had been seeing it on the shelves of stores specializing in wargames
for some time now.
In
this issue he only talks about how to paint the miniatures. It really is a
compilation of different articles already appeared in different numbers of the
magazine, made by several regulars of the magazine.

tablero de juego, añadiendole algó más que la pintura plana.
Todos
los que pasan mucho del acabado de sus miniaturas o van a jugar una partida sin
llevar pintadas sus miniaturas, evidentemente no leerán esta guia para nada.
Pero tampoco estarán leyendo este artículo, ni este blog, ni ninguna web o blog
que hable de pintado de miniaturas.

An Introduction and the Basics

Como buena guía que se precie, se empieza por la base.
Primero se explica, muy someramente, el espacio de trabajo.
Evidentemente la disposición de los elementos dependerá del espacio disponible
y si es un mero hobby secundario (el principal pueden ser jugar partidas de
wargames), o si nos lo tomamos más en serio.

No se comenta para nada como aplicar la pintura plana, ya
que si estamos pintando miniaturas, esto se debería saber si o si, sino de
otras técnicas básicas como por ejemplo como aplicar iluminaciones con capas de
progresión suave, como aplicar colores metálicos, como imitar la madera, de una
forma básica (más adelante lo amplían), un comentario sobre la importancia de
los detalles según la escala, cuando usar pincel seco (se indica que sólo para
temas muy concretos, como desgaste de metales y pelo de animal), una noción de
como mejorar las bases con el pintado (que más adelante también se amplía), los
sombreados y lavados, el pintado de telas y cueros, y como no, indicación de que
la combinación de técnicas es muy útil para conseguir trabajos superiores con poco
esfuerzo.

de utilización de la técnica del Tritono

Es la base de la
mayoría de las técnicas de pintado básico.

Hay maquetistas que indican que lo que yo denomino esencial,
para ellos es básico. Y lo que para mi es básico, para ellos es avanzado.
Pero cuando pasemos a otras técnicas, que yo denomino
avanzado, ¿cómo lo podrá denominar estos otros maquetistas? ¿superiores) Y

Este capítulo habla sobre el pintado de la piel, y son 6
páginas con información y técnicas.

Parkes utiliza para conseguir todos los tonos de piel (caucásico, mediterráneo,
africano, indio americano, árabe, asiático,…).
Se indica que si no queremos complicarnos mucho, podemos
usar el sistema de tritono, también para 28mm, ya que es una técnica básica.
Aunque para los que quieran ir un poco más allí, nos enseñan una forma sencilla
de utilizar un sistema avanzado de pintado de caras.

that Matt Parkes uses to get all skin tones (Caucasian, Mediterranean, African,
American Indian, Arabic, Asian, ...).

A parte del pintado de caras, nos muestran tres métodos de
pintar los ojos en miniaturas (se recomienda a partir de 28mm, aunque yo lo
aplico a veces para escala 1/72). Me gusta en especial el primer método, ya que
hace muchos años que no veo que nadie la aplique. Es un método muy simple y
básico, especial para los que no tienen un gran dominio del pincel.
También se habla de como pintar la boca, los dientes y los
labios, tanto cuando está cerrada como, especialmente, cuando está abierta.
Los ojos y la boca es la personalización básica de la
miniatura, en lo primero que nos fijaremos cuando miremos la miniatura, esté a
la distancia que esté.
Apart from face painting, they show us three
methods of painting the eyes in miniatures (it is recommended from 28mm,

Para una miniatura de 28mm, es clara la diferencia entre una
técnica básica de pintado de caras, con un tritonal de 3 tonos (base, una
sombra y una luz), y una avanzada con 7
tonos (base, tres bajadas en sombra y 3 subidas de luz).
For miniatures greater than 28mm, such as 54mm

Lo primero que indican y que insisten es en el pintado de
capas (grandes áreas de tela), explicando como aplicar luces a partir del color
base (dos subidas y dos bajadas).

técnica básica, es suficiente.
Tema diferente es el realizar distintivos de ejército,
como emblemas o las tramas de los tartán
escoceses, pantalones y camisas a cuadros y pantalones a rayas.
Especial indicación para el tratamiento de prendas de cuero
rozadas y gastadas, así como lana, fieltro y terciopelo.

En este caso, Matt Parkes nos comenta que se puede tratar
armaduras de color plata con cinco métodos diferentes, obteniendo acabados
diferentes. Con el oro, también podemos
aplicar los mismos cinco métodos.
Mención especial a como usar metalizados con pigmentos para
las peanas.
Metallic painting has always been a subject of
controversy.
In this case, Matt Parkes tells us that you can
treat silver armor with five different methods, obtaining different finishes.
With gold, we can also apply the same five methods.
Special mention to how to use metallic with

Painting Wood –
Pintando madera.
Como he indicado al principio, aparte de hace una mención de
como pintar la madera de una forma esencial, ahora Dave Taylor, otro de los
habituales en la revista, nos amplía la forma básica de pintar madera de una
forma más creíble que el simple color marrón.
