Aging and environmental dirt of
28mm buildings - Part 1
El
pasado 24 de noviembre imparti una Masterclass de efectos de envejecimiento y
suciedad ambiental, en edificios de 28mm, con productos Vallejo.
Como
no es cuestión de llegar con las manos en los bolsillos a la Masterclass,
preparé de antemano los frontales a utilizar.
Una
vez preparo los frontales iniciales, Scenery Forge me facilitó, muy
amablemente, una serie de piezas para poder trabajarlas, por lo que ampliaba el
rango de piezas de sólo histórico, a
fantasía y Ci-FI.
On
November 24, I taught a Masterclass of aging effects and environmental dirt, in
28mm buildings, with Vallejo products.
As it
is not a matter of arriving with my hands in my pockets at the Masterclass, I
prepared in advance the fronts to use.
Once I
prepared the initial fronts, Scenery Forge provided me, very kindly, a series
of pieces to be able to work them, so it expanded the range of pieces from only
historical, to fantasy and Ci-FI.
En
este artículo presentaré los frontales que llevé a la Masterclass y como
terminaron tres de ellas en la Masterclass.
En siguientes
artículo presentaré el acabado del resto de frontales, aunque en vez de hacerlo
deprisa en menos de una hora cada uno, los realizaré con tanqulidad en mi
taller, con fotos y explicaciones del paso a paso.
In
this article I will present the fronts that I took to the Masterclass and how
three of them ended up in the Masterclass.
In the
following article I will present the finishing of the rest of the fronts,
although instead of doing it quickly in less than an hour each, I will do them
with tanqulity in my workshop, with photos and explanations of the step by
step.
Haciendo las fachadas - Making the facades
Para
hacer estas fachadas, se ha optado por dibujar plantillas a escala 1/56, sobre
papel milimetrado.
To
make these facades, we have chosen to draw templates at 1/56 scale, on graph
paper.
Estos dibujos se cortan con cuchilla para obtener las
plantillas con las que se trabajarán.
These drawings are cut with a knife to obtain
the templates with which they will work.
Las plantillas de las fachadas se la fijan sobre el Pórexcomprimido
de 3mm de espesor por medio de agujas.
The templates of the facades are fixed on the
compressed 3mm thick pox by means of needles.
Con un punzón, o cualquier otra herramienta con punta, y una
regla se marcan los contornos de la plantilla.
With a punch, or any other pointed tool, and a
ruler, the contours of the template are marked.
Y con la cuchilla se corta las piezas marcadas en el Pórex.
And with the blade the pieces marked in the
Porex are cut.
Una vez cortada, se vuelve a comprobar que la escala de 1/56
o 28mm es correcta.
Once cut, it is checked again that the 1/56 or
28mm scale is correct.
Casa de Fantasy - Fantasy House
De la mano de Scenery Forge, facilitaron varias piezas,
entre ellas la fachada frontal de la casa de Fantasy que tienen.
From the hand of Scenery Forge, they provided
several pieces, including the front facade of the Fantasy house they have.
Después de pintada con color crema la fachada, gris las
piedras y madera las maderas, se paso a aplicar los efectos.
After the facade was painted with cream color,
the stones gray and the wood gray, the effects were applied.
Se aplicaron Washes, efectos de suciedad, confiriéndole un
aspecto sucio y mohoso, pero sin llegar a ser una casa abandonada.
Washes were applied, dirt effects, giving it a
dirty and moldy appearance, but without becoming an abandoned house.
Todos estos efectos, y unos cuantos más, se desgranarán en
el siguiente artículo, mientras se trata la tasa tipo alemana.
All these effects, and a few more, will be
broken down in the following article, while the German rate is being discussed.
Torre de piedra - Stone tower
En las piezas más estrechas y altas, que he realizado dos, a
una de ellas se pasa por encima un rodillo texturado.
In the narrowest and highest pieces, which I
have made two, a textured roller is passed over one of them.
Pero me encuentro con el problema que el Pórexcomprimido utilizado,
no el extrusado, tiene memoria. O sea, que una vez grabado con el rodillo, las
marcas desaparecen y el Pórex vuelve casi a su posición original, perdiendo la
textura creada.
But I am faced with the problem that the
compressed pox used, not the extruded one, has memory. That is, once engraved
with the roller, the marks disappear and the Porex returns almost to its
original position, losing the texture created.
Por ello se debe remarcar más profundamente la textura a
realizar.
Las herramientas que se pueden utilizar son un bolígrafo,preferiblemente
sin tinta, o un buril romo, que se puede encontrar en tiendas de bellas artes o
de manualidades.
Therefore, the texture to be made should be
highlighted more deeply.
The tools that can be used are a pen,
preferably without ink, or a blunt buril, which can be found in fine arts or
craft stores.
Nota Mental: No volver a usar un bolígrafo con tinta, ya que
cuesta mucho cubrir con pintura la tinta del bolígrafo.
Mental Note: Do not reuse a pen with ink, since
it costs a lot to cover the ink in the pen with paint.
Aun así, se ha tenido que marcar por segunda vez y mucho más
profundamente que la primera, ya que la memoria de este material me ha vuelto a
hacer una mala pasada.
Even so, it has had to be marked for the second
time and much more deeply than the first, since the memory of this material has
made me a trick again.
El aspecto final queda de esta manera.

Y para dar el efecto de piedra, se ha grabado con un cepillo
metálico, el que se utiliza para limpiar las limas.
Aunque también se puede usar una piedra para dar una textura
diferente y realista.
And to give the effect of stone, it has been
engraved with a metal brush, which is used to clean the files.
Although a stone can also be used to give a
different and realistic texture.
Como se ha indicado, de esta fachada se han realizado dos
piezas iguales, una es a modo de torre de piedras y la segunda se tratará como
si fuere de demento u hormigón, que se explica un poco más adelante.
As indicated, two equal pieces have been made
of this facade, one is as a tower of stones and the second one will be treated
as if it were made of dement or concrete, which is explained a little later.
El motivo es para que se pueda ver que con la misma pieza,
pero con un texturado diferente, se pueden representarse edificios
absolutamente diferentes en estilo, material e, incluso, época.
The reason is that it can be seen that with the
same piece, but with a different texture, absolutely different buildings can be
represented in style, material and even time.
El pintado de las piedras no he usado un gris, sino un color
piedra rojiza.
Esto se consigue con pasadas de pintura de diferentes tonos,
aplicados con pincel plano, la pintura base, con pincel semi seco y con la
técnica de la espuma, para dar efecto jaspeado.
Se ha pintado de forma uniforme, pero con tiempo, se pueden
aplicar colores diferentes a piedras de forma individual, con lo que se
conseguirá un mayor realismo y una amplitud de matices muy interesante.
The painting of the stones I have not used a
gray, but a reddish stone color.
This is achieved with paint passes of different
shades, applied with a flat brush, the base paint, with a semi-dry brush and
with the foam technique, to give a marbled effect.
It has been painted uniformly, but with time,
different colors can be applied to stones individually, which will achieve
greater realism and a very interesting range of nuances.
Al igual que en la fachada de la casa de fantasía, se aplica
el efecto de suciedad clara en zonas un poco amplias de las piedras, pero sin
ningún miramiento y en cantidad.
Hay que tener en cuenta que este tipo de suciedad se la
humedad, en las piedras, es donde más se ve y donde más se puede lucir el
efecto.
As in the facade of the fantasy house, the
effect of clear dirt is applied in slightly wide areas of the stones, but
without any look and in quantity.
Keep in mind that this type of dirt is
moisture, in the stones, it is where you see the most and where you can show
the most effect.
El efecto del microflock entre las piedras, sobre las
juntas, da una sensación de moho muy convincente.
The effect of the microflock between the
stones, on the joints, gives a very convincing mold sensation.
Aunque lo suyo sería eliminar el exceso con una cuchilla,
sin afectar a la pintura, para dejar sólo el moho en las ranuras de las juntas.
Although his thing would be to remove the
excess with a blade, without affecting the paint, to leave only mold in the
grooves of the joints.
Como plantas trepadoras se utiliza la hiedra de Mini Natur.
As climbing plants, Mini Natur ivy is used.
Si añadimos dos o tres tipos de vegetación, el efecto de
dejadez que puede darnos, está garantizado.
If we add two or three types of vegetation, the
effect of neglect that can give us is guaranteed.
Otra vegetación que se ha colocado, ha otra natural seca,
conseguida hace un par de años en la Fira de Santa Llúcia, en la época de
Belenes.
Another vegetation that has been placed, to
another dry natural one, obtained a couple of years ago in the Fira de Santa
Llúcia, at the time of Nativity scenes.
Sobre la planta seca, se le ha pintado unos puntos rojos, a
modo de rosas u otra flor similar.
On the dried plant, some red dots have been
painted, like roses or another similar flower.
Y para dar una mayor diversidad, se ha añadido miniflock
verde en la parte inferior del muro, consiguiendo un efecto de hierba pequeña
creciendo en cualquier rendija con humedad.
And to give greater diversity, green miniflock
has been added at the bottom of the wall, achieving a small grass effect growing
in any slit with moisture.
Fachada Metal
Ci-Fi - Sci-Fi Metal Facade
Otra pieza facilitada por Scenery Forge.
Another piece provided by Scenery Forge.
Realmente son dos piezas que se pueden combinar entre ellas
y el resto de piezas de la gama Ci-Fi que tienen.
They are really two pieces that can be combined
between them and the rest of the Ci-Fi range pieces that they have.
Sobre esta pared, se aplicaron efectos de metal al
descubierto, tanto de forma suave como algo más agresiva, para conseguir
efectos posteriores más interesantes.
Lo primero a aplicar fue pigmento metalizado.
Over this wall, bare metal effects were
applied, both smoothly and somewhat more aggressively, to achieve more
interesting later effects.
The first thing to apply was metallic pigment.
Este pigmento se aplicó en una zona más o menos amplia, para
un acabado de óxido posterior, como un exhaustivo desgaste en la puerta
metálica. Para la zona amplia, se aplica el pigmento con un pincel de cerdas
blandas, mientras que para el desgaste de la puerta, con un pincel dedondo
plano sintético de cerdas mucho más rígidas.
This pigment was applied in a more or less wide
area, for a subsequent oxide finish, such as exhaustive wear on the metal door.
For the wide area, the pigment is applied with a soft bristle brush, while for
the door wear, with a flat synthetic brush with much more rigid bristles.
Para remarcar el desgaste en los bordes de los
refuerzos y el resto de aristas de la fachada, se aplica grafito en barra, como
si estubiesemos dibujando.
To
highlight the wear on the edges of the reinforcements and the other edges of
the facade, bar graphite is applied, as if we were drawing.
El efecto de metal al descubierto es interesante.
The bare metal effect is interesting.
En la zona amplia donde se ha aplicado el pigmento
metalizado, se aplica efecto de textura de óxido, reforzado con pigmento color
óxido oscuro.
In the wide area where the metallic pigment has
been applied, rust texture effect is applied, reinforced with dark oxide
pigment.
Por último, y de forma muy burda, se aplicó Wash color
óxido, en junturas y allí donde el agua de lluvia (acida o no) haya tocado con
el metal al descubierto.
Finally, and very roughly, Wash color rust was
applied, in joints and where the rainwater (acid or not) has touched with the
bare metal.
Otro efecto que se tocó en esta fachada, pero que
perfectamente se podía haber utilizado con cualquiera de las otras dos
fachadas: el efecto nieve.
Este efecto se recoge con pincel, a falta de una buena espátula
de pintor. Aunque dependiendo de la cantidad y efecto, se utilizará o el pincel
o la espátula de pintor.
Another effect that was touched on this facade,
but that could perfectly have been used with any of the other two facades: the
snow effect.
This effect is collected with a brush, in the
absence of a good painter spatula. Although depending on the quantity and
effect, either the painter's brush or spatula will be used.
Y se aplica en “pegotes” en la zona que se desee dar el
efecto de nieve acumulada.
And it is applied in “sticks” in the area that
you want to give the effect of accumulated snow.
Si queremos dejar una fina capa de nieve sobre bordes, lo mejor
es pintarlo con pintura blanca. Este efecto nieve es para dar sensación de
volumen.
If we want to leave a thin layer of snow on
edges, it is best to paint it with white paint. This snow effect is to give a
sense of volume.
Con el Wash de óxido claro, se realiza el último retoque,
que será sobre los remaches.
With the Wash of clear oxide, the last touch-up
is carried out, which will be on the rivets.

Aunque ha sido un artículo escueto en cuanto a como hacer
las técnicas, en este caso se ha preferido que se vea, al igual que se hizo en la
Masterclass, las técnicas que se pueden utilizar y su efecto rápido.
Pero todas estas técnicas, con más detenimiento y en paso a paso
se irán desgranando poco a poco en sucesivos artículos que se harán sobre
envejecimiento y ensuciado ambiental en edificaciones. En especial para 28mm.
Although it has been a concise article as to
how to do the techniques, in this case it has been preferred to see, as was
done in the Masterclass, the techniques that can be used and their rapid
effect.
But all these techniques, in more detail and
step by step, will gradually be broken down into successive articles that will
be done on aging and environmental fouling in buildings. Especially for
28mm.
