Pincel y Masilla Studio: [Escenografía] Palmeras

Palms

El pasado sábado 9 de marzo, con el club de wargames al que estoy inscrito (+1 al Dau), hemos tenido el honor de estar invitados a una jornada lúdica dentro de los actos que se han realizado de cara al 250º aniversario de la Facultat de Nàutica de Barcelona.

Last Saturday, March 9, with the club of wargames to which I am enrolled (+1 to the Dau), we had the honor of being invited to a playful day within the acts that have been made towards the 250th anniversary of the Facultat de Nàutica de Barcelona.

Para el escenario que hemos llevado, un compañero ha adecuado un terreno simple y llano para conformar la playa en la que desarrolló parte de la batalla de Arsuf.

Pero para dar cierta ambientación, he llevado unas antiguas casas árabes a 15/20mm (que por cierto he visto que debo adecuar algo más, ya que están muy podo detalladas), y unas palmeras.

Estas palmeras fueron conseguidas en varios años, en época de belenes. No son muchas, pero aun así, se ha tardado en reunirlas un par de años, ya que ha sido muy difícil encontrar palmeras en tiendas. Al final entre la Fira de Santa Llucia y las tiendas de suministros asiáticos, se tiene un buen número de palmeras.

Pero todas son para 28mm.

Para esta partida, a 15mm, se han cogido todas las palmeras “pequeñas” que se tenía, y se han adecuado un poco, para que tuvieran un resultado visual de “no plástico”.

For the scenario we have taken, a partner has adapted a simple and flat terrain to form the beach on which he developed part of the Battle of Arsuf.

But to give some ambience, I have taken some old Arab houses to 15 / 20mm (which I have certainly seen that I must adapt something else, since they are very detailed), and some palm trees.

These palm trees were obtained in several years, in time of cribs. There are not many, but even so, it has taken a couple of years to gather them, since it has been very difficult to find palm trees in stores. At the end between the Fira de Santa Llucia and the Asian supply stores, you have a good number of palm trees.

But all are for 28mm.

For this game, at 15mm, they have taken all the "small" palm trees that they had, and they have adapted a little, so that they have a visual result of "no plastic".

Para dar un poco más de sensación de textura, o de palmera, he ha aplicado un poco de pintura al tronco, las hojas y la base.

To give a little more texture sensation, or palm tree, I have applied some paint to the trunk, the leaves and the base.

Tronco - Trunk

Para el tronco se han utilizado tres colores:

- Uniforme inglés (Model Color 921-141), para 1ª luz, en pincel semi seco.

- Tierra oscura (Model Color 874-134), para 2ª luz, en pincel seco.

- Arena Iraquí (Model Color 819-124), para 3ª luz, también en pincel seco.

Three colors have been used for the trunk:

- English uniform (Model Color 921-141), for 1st light, in semi dry brush.

- Dark Earth (Model Color 874-134), for 2nd light, in dry brush.

- Iraqi Sand (Model Color 819-124), for 3rd light, also in dry brush.

Como el color del plástico es de un tono marrón oscuro muy intenso, lo primero que aplica es el uniforme inglés, pero en pincel semi-seco, dejando que el color marrón oscuro del plástico se vea en las depresiones de la textura.

Y sobre este color, se aplica con un pincel seco, el tierra oscura.

En la siguiente foto se puede ver la diferencia de no estar pintado a llevar estas dos capas iniciales.

As the color of the plastic is of a very intense dark brown tone, the first thing that applies is the English uniform, but in a semi-dry brush, letting the dark brown color of the plastic be seen in the depressions of the texture.

And on this color, it is applied with a dry brush, the dark earth.

In the following photo you can see the difference of not being painted to wear these two initial layers.

Y por último un nuevo pincel seco, pero muy poco cargado de pintura, con el arena iraquí, para realzar aun más la textura de esta pieza.

And finally a new dry brush, but very little loaded with paint, with the Iraqi sand, to enhance even more the texture of this piece.

Hojas - Leaves

Las hojas se han pintado con dos grupos de colores: uno para las hojas verdes y oro para las hojas secas.

The leaves have been painted with two groups of colors: one for the green leaves and gold for the dry leaves.

Para las hojas verdes, se ha utilizado:

- Oliva Medio (Model Color 850-081), para la 1ª luz, en pincel semiseco.

- Verde Oliva (Model Color 967-082), para la 2ª luz, en pincel seco.

- Verde Escorpena (Game Color 032), para la 3ª luz, en pincel seco.

For green leaves, it has been used:

- Medium Olive (Model Color 850-081), for the 1st light, in a semi-dry brush.

- Olive Green (Model Color 967-082), for the 2nd light, in dry brush.

- Scorpy Green (Game Color 032), for the 3rd light, in dry brush.

Después de aplicar el oliva medio con un semi seco generoso, se ha aplicado con un pincel seco el verde oliva.

En la foto la diferencia entre las hojas con el color del plástico y con los dos tonos de verde aplicados.

After applying the medium olive with a generous dry semi, the olive green has been applied with a dry brush.

In the photo the difference between the leaves with the color of the plastic and with the two shades of green applied.

Y en la siguiente foto, la diferencia entre el anterior y aplicando un pincel seco de verde escorpena en la punta de los árboles.

And in the next photo, the difference between the previous one and applying a dry brush of Scorpy green on the tip of the trees.

Las palmeras van teniendo constantemente hojas secas por abajo, por lo menos las datileras del norte de áfrica, por lo que se ha imitado este color seco con:

- Marrón Amarillo (Model Color 912-122), como color base de la hoja seca.

- Amarillo Arena (Model Color 916-009), para 1ª luz, con pincel semi seco.

- Arena Iraquí (Model Color 819-124), para 2ª luz, con pincel seco.

The palms are constantly having dry leaves on the bottom, at least the date palms of North Africa, so this dry color has been imitated with:

- Yellow Brown (Model Color 912-122), as the base color of the dry leaf.

- Sand Yellow (Model Color 916-009), for 1st light, with semi dry brush.

- Iraqi Sand (Model Color 819-124), for 2nd light, with dry brush.

Se aplica el color base con marrón amarillo, y un pincel semi seco con amarillo arena.

The base color is applied with yellow brown, and a semi-dry brush with yellow sand.

Y por último un pincel seco con arena iraquí, en los bordes de la hoja.

And finally a dry brush with Iraqi sand, on the edges of the leaves.

Base

Ya se tienen las palmeras terminadas.

Se enganchan con cianocrilato a los huecos que lleva el soporte de la misma palmera al comprarla.

You already have the palm trees finished.

They are hooked with cyanoacrylate to the holes that the support of the same palm takes when buying it.

Para dar textura a una base de plástico casi liso, se utiliza la masilla acrílica de Vallejo Arena Desierto (Dioram Effect 217).

To give texture to an almost smooth plastic base, the acrylic putty of Vallejo Desert Sand (Dioram Effect 217) is used.

Seaplica con espátula. Si mojamos la masilla, se puede extender bien sobre la superficie de plástico sin problemas.

It is applied with a spatula. If we wet the putty, it can extend well on the plastic surface without problems.

Una vez aplicada la masilla, la extendemos con un pincel empapado en agua, para poder repartirla por toda la superficie.

Es interesante no dejar de forma homogénea esta masilla, sino que debemos dejar zonas com más cantidad de masilla que otras.

Once the putty is applied, we spread it with a brush soaked in water, in order to distribute it over the entire surface.

It is interesting not to leave this putty homogeneously, but we must leave areas with more amount of putty than others.

En el caso de que la masilla haya manchado el tronco de la palmera, se puede eliminar con un pincel limpio empapado en agua.

In the event that the putty has stained the trunk of the palm tree, it can be removed with a clean brush soaked in water.

Con las bases cubiertas de masilla, se debe dejar secar unas 6 horas antes de proceder a pintar, aunque lo ideal sería como poco 12 horas.

With the bases covered with putty, it should be allowed to dry about 6 hours before proceeding to paint, although the ideal would be as little as 12 hours.

Para el pintado de las bases, se ha utilizad:

- Marrón Amarillo (MC912-122) para un lavado general de la base.

- Arena Iraquí (Model Color 819-124), para 1ª luz, aplicado con pincel semi seco.

- Sand (Model Color 075), para 2ª luz, aplicado con pincel semi seco.

- Arena Clara (Model Color 837-007), para 3ª luz, aplicado con pincel seco.

For the painting of the bases, it has been used:

- Yellow Brown (MC912-122) for a general washing of the base.

- Iraqi Sand (Model Color 819-124), for 1st light, applied with semi dry brush.

- Sand (Model Color 075), for 2nd light, applied with semi dry brush.

- Sand Light (Model Color 837-007), for 3rd light, applied with dry brush.

Se aplica el marrón Amarillo de forma muy diluida, casi como si fuese un lavado, y se cubre completamente la base.

Este color oscurecerá el amarillo de base de la masilla.

The yellow brown is applied very dilute, almost as if it were a wash, and the base is completely covered.

This color will darken the base yellow of the putty.

El arena iraquí se aplica con un pincel semi seco, incidiendo en la parte superior de la base y en las protuberancias que sobre salen de ella.

The Iraqi sand is applied with a semi-dry brush, striking the top of the base and the protuberances that come out of it.

Se hace lo mismo con el sand, pero poniendo mucha menos pintura en el pincel, sin llegar a ser un pincel seco.

The same is done with the sand, but putting much less paint on the brush, without becoming a dry brush.

Por último, y con la técnica del pincel seco, y un pincel de cerdas sintéticas algo más duras, frotamos en toda la base, en especial en todos los bordes de las protuberancias.

Finally, with the technique of dry brush, and a brush of somewhat harder synthetic bristles, we rub on the entire base, especially on all the edges of the protuberances.
