Modular Roads 15mm Europe

En esta ocasión, recupero unas carreteras modulares que hice hace unos 6 años, y los tenía en casa desde hacía algo más de 4 años, que no sabía si tirarlas, arreglarlas o hacerlas de nuevo. Pero con la cantidad de piezas que lleva, es un desperdicio de material y tiempo utilizado en su momento, que prefiero recuperarlas y repintarlas.

On this occasion, I recovered some modular roads that I did about 6 years ago, and had them at home for more than 4 years, I did not know whether to throw them away, fix them or do them again. But with the quantity of pieces that it carries, it is a waste of material and time used in its moment, that I prefer to recover them and repaint them.

Estas carreteras están realizadas sobre Cartón Pluma de 4mm.

These roads are made on Cardboard Pen 4mm.

Estas carreteras las realicé en dos tardes de sábado, para una partida de demostración en las Alpha Ares del 2013.

Después de marcar con escuadra, cartabón y compas con extensión (para las curvas) y cortar toda las piezas que daba la plancha conseguida, se aplicó pintura texturada al agua para exteriores (actualmente ya no se fabrica).

Una vez bien seca la pintura texturada, se pintó con Sombra Natural (Acrylic Studio nº 17) el color base, después un pincel semi seco con Siena Tostada (Acrylic Studio nº 20) y finalmente un pincel seco de Amarillo Nápoles (Acrylic Studio nº 21).

I did these roads on two afternoons on Saturday, for a demonstration game at Alpha Ares 2013.

After marking with square, bevel and compass with extension (for the curves) and cutting all the pieces that the iron obtained, textured paint was applied to the water for outdoors (now it is no longer manufactured).

Once the textured paint was dry, it was painted with Natural Shadow (Acrylic Studio nº 17) the base color, then a semi-dry brush with Siena Toasted (Acrylic Studio nº 20) and finally a dry brush of Amarillo Nápoles (Acrylic Studio nº 21) ).

Aceptables y jugables quedaron, pero no me gustaron para nada como el resultado obtenido.

Acceptable and playable remained, but I did not like at all as the result obtained.

Por ello, lo primero que se ha hecho al recuperarlas,  ha sido volver a aplicar un buen pincel semi seco de Sombra Natural (Acrylic Studio nº 17).

Therefore, the first thing that has been done to recover them, has been to re-apply a good semi-dry brush of Natural Shadow (Acrylic Studio No. 17).

La diferencia de las piezas recién repintadas con una pieza antigua, se puede observar en esta foto.

The difference of the newly repainted pieces with an old piece, can be seen in this photo.

No se ha querido repintar completamente con el Sombra natural, que se hubiese hecho con aerógrafo, evidentemente, ya que interesaba que se viesen los múltiples matices en todos los tramos de la carretera modular, que van del marrón al ocre, pasando por el rojizo.

It has not been wanted to completely repaint with the natural shade, which would have been done with an airbrush, obviously, since it was interesting to see the multiple nuances in all the sections of the modular road, ranging from brown to ocher, passing through the reddish one.

Ya se tiene el color base de las carreteras.

Ahora hay que darle “vida”.

Con un pincel semi seco con una mezcla al 50% de Sombra Natural (Acrylic Studio nº 17) y Siena Natural (Acrylic Studio nº 19), marcamos las el terreno apelmazada por la rodada de vehículos de rueda.

You already have the base color of the roads.

Now we have to give it "life".

With a semi-dry brush with a 50% blend of Natural Shadow (Acrylic Studio No. 17) and Siena Natural (Acrylic Studio No. 19), we mark the ground matched by the roll of wheel vehicles.

En los cruces, con las marcas de las rodadas, se obtiene  un efecto visual interesante.

In the crossings, with the marks of the rolls, an interesting visual effect is obtained.

Lo siguiente ha sido con pincel seco de Sombra natural (Acrylic Studio nº 17), más Carne (Acrylic Studio nº 44), en una proporción de 70-30%, aplicado sobre la marca de rodadas que anteriormente hemos pintado.

Ya se ha conseguido que las carreteras puedan tener un aspecto visual muchísimo mejor y más coherente con su función.

The following has been with dry brush of Natural Shadow (Acrylic Studio No. 17), plus Meat (Acrylic Studio No. 44), in a proportion of 70-30%, applied on the mark of the previously painted tracks.

It has already been achieved that the roads can have a much better visual appearance and more consistent with its function.

Básicamente ya están terminadas.

Pero como siempre, a mi me gusta darle a las cosas una vuelta más de tuerca, y se ha decidido aplicar vegetación en los laterales de los tramos modulares de la carretera.

Lo primero es dar una base de lavado Verde Oscuro (Model Wash 512) en todos los bordes de las piezas.

Basically they are already finished.

But as always, I like to give things a twist, and it has been decided to apply vegetation on the sides of the modular sections of the road.

The first thing is to give a base of washing Dark Green (Model Wash 512) in all the edges of the pieces.

Una vez seco, el resultado final de este lavado verde sobre el marrón base, nos da un efecto húmedo muy convincente.

Once dry, the final result of this green wash on the base brown gives us a very convincing wet effect.

Para fijar la vegetación a los laterales de los módulos , se utiliza el Scenic Cement de Woodland Scenic, que en muchos otros trabajos ya habéis visto que lo utilizo.

To fix the vegetation to the sides of the modules, the Scenic Cement of Woodland Scenic is used, which in many other works you have already seen that I use it.

Esta Cement lo aplico en el lateral, allí donde quiero aplicar el microflock verde “otoño” (Hierba Seca - Dry Grass - lo llama Woodland Scenic).

Podemos aplicarlo en tramos intermitentes o por todo el lateral, a gusto del maquetista.

This Cement I apply on the side, where I want to apply the green microflock "autumn" (Dry Grass called Woodland Scenic).

We can apply it in intermittent sections or all the way to the taste of the model maker.

“Espolvoreamos” el microflock con la mano sobre el Cement húmedo.

"Sprinkle" the microflock with your hand on the wet Cement.

Y eliminamos el exceso.

And we eliminate the excess.

Para 15mm, personalmente me gusta más el microflock que la hierba elecroestárica, o el serrín tintado.

For 15mm, I personally like the microflore more than the electrostatic grass, or the tinted sawdust.

En algunos tramos de carretera, también colocamos vegetación en pequeñas islas en el centro.

On some stretches of road, vegetation is also placed on small islands in the center.

En los tramos donde no se ha colocado el microflock verde “otoño”, colocamos microflock verde “Verano”, más oscuro (Hierba Verde  - Green Grass - lo llama Woodland Scenic).

Y, por último, también aplicamos un poco de miniflock Verde.

In the sections where the green "autumn" microflock has not been placed, we put green microflock "Summer", darker (Green Grass called Woodland Scenic).

And finally, we also apply a little Green miniflock.

Este último miniflock, dará más volumen  a la vegetación y se amplía la variedad de color verde.

This last miniflock, will give more volume to the vegetation and the variety of green color is extended.

Se ha optado por no poner más vegetación, en especial más alta, ya que al guardar estas piezas modulares, una encima de la otra, estropeará cualquier cosa que sea más alta.

Estas carreteras están diseñadas para 15mm, pero también sirven para 20mm y como caminos para 28mm.

It has been chosen not to put more vegetation, especially higher, since to save these modular pieces, one on top of the other, will spoil anything that is higher.

These roads are designed for 15mm, but also serve for 20mm and as roads for 28mm.

Con la diversidad de módulos, se puede conseguir todo tipo de recorridos rectos o tortuosos.

With the diversity of modules, you can get all kinds of straight or tortuous routes.

Ahora solo falta hacer lo mismo con otras carreteras para Oriente Medio y Norte de África, unas para 15mm y otras para 28mm.

Now we just need to do the same with other roads for Middle East and North Africa, some for 15mm and others for 28mm.
