En las pasadas navidades, se consiguió un par de puentes de corcho natural, en uno de los suministradores asiáticos habituales.

Son los típicos puentes de corcho de mala calidad de muy bajo coste, que prácticamente nadie los quiere de lo feo que son.

Pero se le vio las posibilidades que pueden ofrecer si se retocan, añaden elementos y pintan adecuadamente.

Y como su coste era muy bajo, se adquirió uno de 1,- € y otro de 1,50 €., algo más grande.

Last Christmas, a pair of natural cork bridges was obtained from one of the usual Asian suppliers.

They are the typical low-quality, low-quality cork bridges that almost no one wants because of how ugly they are.

But he saw the possibilities that they can offer if they are retouched, added elements and painted properly.

Lo primero que se realiza es la comprobación si sirve para lo que se ha adquirido, como puente para partidas napoleónicas.

Al final del proceso, después de añadir elementos y usar 14 colores diferentes de pintura, tengamos este resultado.

Piedras del arco del puente - Bridge Arch Ring Stones

Para realizar las piedras del arco del puente, se utilizará pórex extruido. Para ello nuestro colega Pablo Valle ha cortado en piezas finas con una cortadora de pórex de sobremesa.

To make the stones of the bridge arch, extruded polystyrene will be used. To do this, our colleague Pablo Valle has cut into fine pieces with a desktop polystyrene cutter.

Aunque si se utiliza Goma Eva, es también un material apto para estos menesteres.

Although if Foam is used, it is also a suitable material for these purposes.

Estas piezas se cortan en listones. Este proceso que no es de precisión, se suele realizar con tijeras.

These pieces are cut into ribbons. This non-precision process is usually carried out with scissors.

La primera pieza a colocar en ambos lados, es la piedra de la parte superior, que tendrá forma de cuña.

Si las piezas cortadas son grandes para donde se quiere colocar, se pueden recortar y hacerlas más pequeñas con cúter o con cuchilla de modelismo.

Estas piezas se enganchan con cola blanca o pegamento universal. Si pretendemos encolarlas con cianocrilato, este se fundirá el pórex.

Si en algunas partes estas piedras no se enganchan como debería, debido a las imperfecciones del puente, se pueden fijar por medio de sargentos de mordazas blandas.

These pieces are hooked with white glue or universal glue. If we try to glue them with cyanoacrylate, this will melt the polystyrene.

If in some places these stones do not catch as they should, due to the imperfections of the bridge, they can be fixed by means of soft-jaw sergeants.

Pintado - Painted

Con las piedras del arco del puente ya en su posición, se imprima todo el puente con Tierra Oscura (Model Air 029).

With the bridge arch stones already in place, prime the entire bridge with Dark Earth (Model Air 029).

No es imprescindible cubrir perfectamente de imprimación todo el puente. Si quedan zonas sin cubrir de forma completa, mejor, ya que es importante que nos queden tonos pictóricos que llenen al final de ricos matices.

It is not essential to perfectly cover the entire bridge with primer. If there are areas without covering completely, better, since it is important that we have pictorial tones that fill the end with rich nuances.

Con el puente imprimado, se decide añadir una columnas a cada lado de las entradas del puente.

Para ello se utilizarán tramos de columnas de las que se usan para las construcciones a escala entre 1/100 y 1/10, que las hay de diferentes tamaños.

With the bridge primed, it is decided to add columns on each side of the bridge entrances.

For this, sections of columns that are used for constructions between 1/100 and 1/10 scale, which are of different sizes, will be used.

Para este caso, se usarán los tramos de tamaño intermedio.

In this case, the intermediate size sections will be used.

Los fabricantes de estas construcciones crean 3 tamaños: uno grande, de tramos no muy largos pero bastante anchos, estos intermedios, de tramos algo más cortos que los primeros, y unos pequeños, de la misma longitud que los intermedios, pero bastante más finos.

Se crean 4 columnas de 2 tramos cada uno y se enganchan en la parte exterior en cada uno de los extremos de las entradas del puente.

The manufacturers of these constructions create 3 sizes: a large one, with not very long but quite wide sections, these intermediate ones, with somewhat shorter sections than the first ones, and small ones, the same length as the intermediate ones, but much thinner.

4 columns of 2 sections each are created and hooked on the outside at each end of the bridge entrances.

Para dar sombra a toda la textura del puente, cubriremos completamente con Lavado Sepia (Game Color Wash 200 ó 300).

Este lavado sepia oscurece el marrón de la imprimación.

Y deja rojizas las columnas, que es es lo que se busca, en la segunda parte se verá el porque interesa este tono como color base.

Al aplicar el sepia, este se introduce en las rendijas del corcho natural, haciendo que parezca más como textura de piedra.

By applying the cuttlefish, it is inserted into the cracks of the natural cork, making it look more like a stone texture.

Cuando coloquemos la calzada, y para evitar un efecto raro de “escalón”, se añade con Plastic Card unas plataformas planas en las entradas del puente.

A su vez, estas plataformas hace que las columnas se asienten mejor y tengan una base reforzada para evitar que por cualquier golpe puedan desengancharse de forma fácil.

En mi caso, este Plastic Card son unas tarjetas antiguas de 0,3mm, que eran unos calendarios de un antiguo cliente, que salieron con impresión defectuosa.

When we place the road, and to avoid a rare “step” effect, flat platforms are added with Plastic Card at the bridge entrances.

In turn, these platforms make the columns sit better and have a reinforced base to prevent them from being easily disengaged by any blow.

In my case, this Plastic Card is old 0.3mm cards, which were calendars from a former client, which came out with a faulty print.

También se aplica, con este mismo color, el primer pincel semi seco, como la primera luz.

Este pincel semiseco se aplicará de forma vertical y de arriba abajo, solamente.

Como siguiente luces, y en pincel semiseco aplicado como se ha indicado antes, se pondrá Tierra Oscura (Model Color 874-134) y después Arena Marrón (Model Color 876-132).

The first semi-dry brush, as the first light, is also applied with this same color.

This semi-dry brush will be applied vertically and from top to bottom only.

As next lights, and in a semi-dry brush applied as indicated before, it will be placed Tan Earth (Model Color 874-134) and then Brown Sand (Model Color 876-132).

Aún está muy oscuro el puente, por lo que se inicia el pintado con los tonos más claros, empezando por un pincel semiseco con el Marrón Podrido (Game Color 037).

En las caras internas, este color se aplica de forma diferente, ya que a partir de este tono, el color se aplica de forma paralela a la calzada, ya que se tiene que representar el roce de los ejes de las ruedas de los carros contra la piedra.

Para aclarar más el tono del puente, se aplica el Amarillo arena (Model Color 916-009) en pincel seco, también de arriba abajo.

To further clarify the tone of the bridge, apply Sand Yellow (Model Color 916-009) in a dry brush, also from top to bottom.

A partir de ahora, a parte de notarse los diferentes tonos y matices, empieza a notarse los bordes de los huecos de la textura del corcho.

El último color a aplicar, en pincel seco con poco pigmento, es el Arena Clara (Model Color 837-007).

Con este color, que se insiste más de lo normal, se consigue aclarar el tono marrón que hasta ahora dominaba.

Al aplicar este pincel seco, casi sin pigmento y en pasada sucesivas y repetitivas de arriba a abajo, se incrementan la luminosidad de los bordes superiores del puente y el borde inferior de los huecos del corcho.

Y en pincel semiseco se aplica en pinceladas suaves paralelas a la calzada, por las paredes interiores, incrementando el efecto de roce de los ejes de los carros.

Columnas - Columns

En los primeros pasos del pintado del puente, las columnas se cubrieron con Lavado Sepia.

El motivo de incrementar los tonos rojizos en las columnas es porque se desea dar la sensación de granito rojo.

Ahora se aplica el Arena Marrón (Model Color 876-132), en pincel semi seco, para dar el color base.

In the first steps of the bridge's painting, the columns were covered with Sepia Wash.

The reason for increasing the reddish tones in the columns is because you want to give the feeling of red granite.

Now apply the Brown Sand (Model Color 876-132), in a semi dry brush, to give the base color.

Se evita el cubrir el fondo del relieve de las columnas, que se desea permanezcan en color sepia.

Por último se aplica la luz a las columnas, con un pincel seco con Carne Mate (Model Color 955-018).

El pincel seco con el color carne, se incrementa en los bordes superiores de los tramos de las columnas, aunque no se descarta el aplicarlo en el exterior más alejado del puente.

The flesh-colored dry brush increases on the upper edges of the sections of the columns, although applying it to the exterior farthest from the bridge is not ruled out.
