of Weathering and Environmental Effects at DAU Històric 2019
El pasado 24 de noviembre, dentro del marco de las DAU
Històric 2019, un evento que reúne a más de 5000 aficionados a los wargames
históricos, tuve la oportunidad, por tercer año consecutivo, de poder hacer una
Masterclass sobre Desgastes y efectos ambientales en fachadas de edificios.
On November 24, within the framework of the DAU
Històric 2019, an event that brings together more than 5000 fans of historical
wargames, I had the opportunity, for the third consecutive year, to be able to
do a Masterclass on Wear and environmental effects on facades of buildings.
En esta ocasión he centrado la MasterClass en el
envejecimiento y suciedad ambiental en edificios.
Para ello traje diferentes tipos de fachadas de edificios a
28mm, ya que no todas los edificios tienen el mismo tratamiento, aunque algunas
técnicas con idénticos entre ellos.
On this occasion I have focused the Master
Class on weathering and environmental dirt in buildings.
For this I brought different types of building
facades to 28mm, since not all buildings have the same treatment, although some
techniques with identical between them.
Los asistentes decidieron que la primera fachada a trabajar
fuese una de Fantasía, de la marca Scenery Forge.
Attendees decided that the first facade to work was one of Fantasy, of the Scenery Forge brand.
La mayoría de los efectos ambientales los aplique con los
Washes de Vallejo, aunque los nuevos botes de efectos específicos, más espesos
y con textura, también.
A parte de los característicos chorretones de suciedad por
la lluvia, lo que más gustó fue el efecto de madera y piedra enmohecida,
realizado sólo con Washes.
Most of the environmental effects apply them
with the Vallejo Washes, although the new boats of specific, thicker and more
textured effects, too.
Apart from the characteristic trickles of dirt
from the rain, what I liked most was the effect of wood and moldy stone, made
only with Washes.
Las explicaciones y los procesos que mostraba, fueron
seguidas con atención por los asistentes.
The explanations and the processes that it
showed, were followed with attention by the assistants.
Se muestra el realizar el efecto de óxido en bisagras,
aplicado simplemente con Wash.
It shows the effect of rust on hinges, simply
applied with Wash.
Y asistentes que lo aplican con esmaltes, observan que el
resultado es exactamente igual con acrílicas.
And assistants who apply it with enamels,
observe that the result is exactly the same with acrylics.
Después de la fachada de fantasía, se pasa a una de Ci-Fi,
también de Scenery Forge.
En ella se ofrecen desgastes de pintura, que hacen que el
metal aparezca.
Estos efectos se pueden hacer muy marcados con acrílicas,
pero en este caso, se realizaron con pigmento metálico.
After the fantasy façade, you will go to one of
Ci-Fi, also of Scenery Forge.
It offers paint wear, which makes the metal
appear.
These effects can be made very marked with
acrylics, but in this case, they were made with metallic pigment.
El desgaste de la pintura en los bordes sobre el metal, no
se realiza con acrílico, sino con una simple mina de grafito.
En este caso una mina gruesa que se puede obtener en tiendas
de bellas artes, pero con un lápiz de dureza 2B o superior también va perfecto
para esto.
The wear of the paint on the edges on the metal
is not done with acrylic, but with a simple graphite mine.
In this case a thick mine that can be obtained
in fine art stores, but with a pencil of hardness 2B or higher is also perfect
for this.
El efecto de metal al descubierto, ya está terminado.
The bare metal effect is already finished.
El efecto oxidado, característico de los metales al
descubierto, que tanto gusta a los jugadores de wargames, también se explicó
como aplicarlo, tanto en grandes áreas, como en puntos pequeños concretos.
The oxidized effect, characteristic of bare
metals, which wargames players like so much, was also explained how to apply
it, both in large areas and in specific small points.
Otro de los efectos que se habló, a solicitud de los
presentes, es la moda de utilizar lápices acuarelables.
Después de explicar que son técnicas de más de 40 años, que
ahora hay quien los ha redescubierto y enseñados en algunos casos como dando a
entender que son propios, se pueden hacer con lápices que se adquieren en
papelerías especializadas o en tiendas de bellas artes, y que por el precio de
unos 15 lápices de marca de pinturas de maquetismo, puedes tener más de 50 de
los de marcas de prestigio de toda la vida.
Another effect that was discussed, at the
request of those present, is the fashion of using watercolor pencils.
After explaining that they are techniques of
more than 40 years, that now there are those who have rediscovered them and
taught in some cases how to imply that they are their own, they can be done
with pencils that are acquired in specialized stationery stores or in fine art
stores, and that for the price of about 15 brand pencils of mock-up paints, you
can have more than 50 of the prestigious brands of a lifetime.
Se sigue con óxido, a base de washes.

Se aplica en la parte superior un poco de efecto nieve, para
que vean que se puede dar efecto de nevado de forma rápida y sencilla.
A little snow effect is applied at the top, so
that you can see that snowing can be done quickly and easily.
También se hizo, con mucha intención, poner exceso de color
óxido y de forma muy descuidada.
It was also done, with great intention, to put
excess oxide color and in a very careless way.
También, de forma intencionada, estuve esperando algo más de
10 minutos, para que el Wash se secara.
Para poder utilizar el diluyente para aerógrafo y mostrar
que, aun seco de más de 10 minutos, se puede retirar el exceso de los colores
que estamos aplicando, incluso en el caso
de habérsenos ido el pincel de la forma y el lugar que no debería.
Also, intentionally, I was waiting for more
than 10 minutes, for the Wash to dry.
To be able to use the thinner for airbrush and
show that, even if dry for more than 10 minutes, you can remove the excess of
the colors that we are applying, even in the case of having left the brush of
the shape and the place that it should not.
Y los asistentes comprobaron que no deja ni tan siquiera
rastros.
And the assistants verified that it does not
even leave traces.
Una
vez terminada la fachada de Ci-Fi, se pasa a fachadas de ambientación más
histórica.
Es una fachada tipo Normandía, en la que se aplican sólo chorretones
de suciedad.
Once the Sci-Fi façade is finished, it goes to
facades with a more historical atmosphere.
It is a Normandy type facade, in which only
dirt sprays are applied.
Y se vuelve a mostrar que tras la dilución con el diluyente
para aerógrafos, igual que haríamos si usásemos esmaltes con su diluyente, el
efecto de rastros de moho, es impecable.
And it is shown again that after dilution with
the thinner for airbrushes, as we would do if we used enamels with its diluent,
the effect of mold traces is impeccable.
En la foto, las ventanas inferiores con el efecto salido del
frasco, como inicialmente lo tendríamos, y en las ventanas superiores, tras
pasar el diluyente.
Obtenemos el mismo efecto con acrílicos que con esmaltes.
In the photo, the lower windows with the effect
out of the bottle, as we initially would have, and in the upper windows, after
passing the diluent.
We get the same effect with acrylics as with
enamels.
Para la fachada imitando piedra, en vez de washes, se aplica
directamente los efectos ambientales de Vallejo, ya que quiero resaltar y
potenciar en exceso el efecto mohoso.
For the imitation stone facade, instead of
washes, Vallejo's environmental effects are applied directly, since I want to
highlight and enhance the moldy effect in excess.
Estos se aplican desde la base de la fachada, hasta la
altura donde queramos parar, pero insistiendo en las juntas entre piedras.
La sensación de suciedad húmeda en la pared, es bien
convincente.
These are applied from the base of the facade,
to the height where we want to stop, but insisting on the joints between
stones.
The sensation of wet dirt on the wall is very
convincing.
No sólo hay que aplicar pintura al muro para dar el efecto
de moho, sino que explico que si aplicamos cola blanca en las juntas entre las
piedras…
Not only must paint be applied to the wall to
give the effect of mold, but I explain that if we apply white glue on the
joints between the stones ...
Y aplicamos
microflock (Fine Turf de Woodland Scenic).
And we apply microflock (Fine Turf from
Woodland Scenic).
El resultado es más que aceptable.
Y si además añadimos vegetación, el efecto es más
pronunciado.
The result is more than acceptable.
And if we also add vegetation, the effect is
more pronounced.
Podemos añadir hiedra de Mini Natur.
We can add ivy from Mini Natur.
Y algo de mini flock (Coarse Turf).

El efecto del paso del tiempo se va incrementando.

Al final del taller, se han trabajado tres tipos de
fachadas, a petición de los presentes.
