Ahora que se vuelve a reeditar el libro de Masterclass 1 de Ángel
Giráldez, es un buen momento para comentar justamente el segundo volumen.
Este segundo libro se editó un año más tarde, en el
2016, tras el éxito del primer libro.
Mientras que el volumen 1 era un libro en formato
revista, de 118 páginas, este es de 152 páginas, más o menos un 20% más, en el que
el Ángel Giráldez nos matiza técnicas explicadas en el anterior volumen, y nos
ofrece otras técnicas mucho más avanzadas.
Este libro también está enfocado hacia las miniaturas
del juego Infinity, pero al igual que en el anterior volumen sus enseñanzas son
genéricas para cualquier miniatura, por lo que también se convierten en interesante
de tenerlo y consultarlo, para poder pintar cualquier miniatura de fantasía.
Now that Angel
Giráldez's book of Masterclass 1 is reissued, it is a good time to comment
on the second volume.
This second book was published a year later, in
2016, after the success of the first book.
While volume 1 was a book in magazine format,
118 pages, this is 152 pages, more or less 20% more, in which Ángel Giráldez
qualifies us with techniques explained in the previous volume, and offers us
other techniques much more advanced.
This book is also focused on the miniatures of
the Infinity game, but as in the previous volume its teachings are generic for
any miniature, so they also become interesting to have it and consult it, to be
able to paint any fantasy miniature.
Este libro está distribuido en 7 apartados (8 si incluimos
la introducción), sobre los que intentaré explicar mi opinión sobre cada uno de
ellos.
Mi opinión es personal y no es necesario que todo el mundo
esté de acuerdo con lo que indico. Tampoco son opiniones cuestionando la forma
de pintar de Ángel Giráldez. Su estilo lo hace único y su forma de pintar puede
o no gustar al resto de pintores de miniaturas, pero no se puede negar la
calidad de su trabajo y el nivel de técnica que tiene.
This book is distributed in 7 sections (8 if we
include the introduction), about which I will try to explain my opinion about
each one of them.
My opinion is personal and it is not necessary
for everyone to agree with what I indicate. Nor are opinions questioning the
way of painting by Ángel Giráldez. His style makes him unique and his way of
painting may or may not like the rest of the miniature painters, but he cannot
deny the quality of his work and the level of technique he has.
The Angel Giraldez
Method
En este primer apartado, explica cual es el método que
utiliza Ángel Giráldez para pintar.
Su combinación de aerógrafo y pincel consigue realizar
transiciones de colores con matices y destacar los detalles.
Color base de imprimación, perfilados e iluminación, son los
elementos básicos para poder pintar cualquier miniatura, de la escala que sea,
y en las primeras páginas explica que es sumamente importante tener claro los
conceptos al iniciar el pintado.
In this first section, explain what Angel
Giráldez uses to paint.
Its combination of airbrush and brush manages
to make color transitions with nuances and highlight the details.
Base color of primer, profiling and lighting,
are the basic elements to be able to paint any miniature, of any scale, and in
the first pages it explains that it is extremely important to be clear about
the concepts when starting painting.
Color Theory
Un conocimiento imprescindible para el pintado de
miniaturas.
Podremos tener el mejor pulso del mundo y desenvolvernos
bien con el pincel, pero si no tenemos un mínimo de conocimiento sobre el
color, sus combinaciones y sus posibilidades, las miniaturas no pasarán de
mediocres e, incluso, de desalentar a los buenos pintores.
Es curioso que hable de este tema, que es de muy de
agradecer, ya que en la inmensa mayoría de libros de otros artistas, no hacen
un mínimo de mención de ella ni del círculo cromático, cuando es la base de
conocimiento de todo miniaturista que quiera ir un poco más allá de lo que sabe
en la actualidad.
An essential knowledge for painting miniatures.
We can have the best pulse in the world and
develop well with the brush, but if we do not have a minimum of knowledge about
the color, its combinations and its possibilities, the miniatures will not go
beyond mediocre and even discourage good painters.
It is curious that I talk about this subject,
which is very much appreciated, since in the vast majority of books by other
artists, they do not make a minimum mention of it or the chromatic circle, when
it is the knowledge base of every miniaturist who Want to go a little beyond

Airbrushing
En 8 páginas nos explica de una forma sencilla, como usar el
aerógrafo, empezando por explicar todas las piezas que llevan los aerógrafos,
siempre de muy agradecer.

use the airbrush, starting by explaining all the pieces that the airbrushes
carry, always very much appreciated.
Explicar como poner el dedo para apretar el disparador del
aerógrafo, es todo un detalle, ya que es fundamental para la precisión, algo
que no se suele dar importancia, cuando la tiene y mucho. ¿Cuántas veces he
visto poner mal el dedo en el aerógrafo? Demasiadas, incluso por gente que
después dan cursos de aerografía, pero no pasan de las enseñanzas de usarlo
sólo para dar la base de imprimación.
Explain how to put your finger to squeeze the
trigger of the airbrush, is a detail, since it is essential for accuracy,
something that is not usually given importance, when it has a lot. How many
times have I seen putting my finger on the airbrush wrong? Too many, even for
people who later give airbrushing courses, but do not go beyond the teachings
of using it only to give the primer base.

En 12 páginas, con indicaciones e imágenes, Ángel Giráldez
explica diferentes técnicas que irá usando más adelante, para el pintado de las
miniaturas.
En Non Metallic Metal Second Part, es una aplicación de lo
explicado en el volumen 1.
En esta ocasión nos explica que colores usar para imitar el
metal sin pinturas metálicas como el plata, Oro y Bronce
Nos explica como aplicar Weathering en figuras que llevan
elementos metálicos, como armaduras o exoesqueletos.
In 12 pages, with indications and images, Ángel
Giráldez explains different techniques that he will use later, for painting the
miniatures.

El Verdín, ese gran desconocido, que es siempre aconsejado usarlo
para la oxidación de cobres, bronces y otras aleaciones no férricas, es otro de
los que explica como utilizarlo.

con pincel o salpicados con pincel y con el aire del aerógrafo… Interesante, muy interesante…

Panoceania
12 páginas explicando diferentes soluciones y efectos para
el pintado de elementos de esta facción.
En cada una de estas soluciones y efectos, explica como se
ha hecho cada paso. Si es con una técnica general, ya se ha explicado en los
apartados anteriores, por lo que sólo hace referencia a datos concretos, como
por ejemplo el porcentaje de dilución o de mezcla con otro color.
Para el resto, o se mira la parte primera del libro, o se
recurre al Volumen 1, ya que las técnicas básicas no avanzadas están explicadas
en este primer volumen. Evidentemente no tiene lógica que estas técnicas
vuelvan a repetirse en este libro, cuando ya se ha hecho en el anterior.
