Como ya he indicado en
más de una ocasión, cuando realizo un trabajo, me gusta documentarme, ver
imágenes reales y como lo hacen otros maquetistas.
Y en este mismo orden
y no al revés, ya que puedo equivocarme completamente.
As I have indicated on
more than one occasion, when I do a job, I like to document myself, see real
images and how other model makers do it.
And in this same order
and not the other way around, since I can make a complete mistake.
Cuando realicé la
bañera para escala 1/12, tanto para pintarlo
como para aplicar el efecto
agua, estuve buscando una fuente de inspiración. Y al final terminé
adquiriendo este libro de AK INTERACTIVE.
Esto fue en 2016 y es
la tercera edición. Hoy creo que van por la quinta o la sexta edición.
Este libro me ha
servido también para pintar el barril
de madera, en especial el capítulo de pintado de barriles.
When I made the bathtub
for 1/12 scale, both to paint
it and to apply the water
effect, I was looking for a source of inspiration. And in the end I ended
up acquiring this book by AK INTERACTIVE.
This was in 2016 and it
is the third edition. Today I think they are going for the fifth or the sixth
edition.
This book has also
helped me to paint the wooden
barrel, especially the painting of barrels.
Es un libro que
constantemente estoy consultando, ya que vienen muy buenos ejemplos y muy bien
explicado como imitar madera y varias técnicas para ello.
También indicar que en
el libro ponen los ejemplos con pinturas de diferentes fabricantes, no sólo de
AK.
Como todos los libros
de la serie Learning, en un libro de papel satinado y tapa blanda, de muy buena
factura y calidad, por escasos 10,- €, de 84 páginas y estructurado en 16
capítulos, aunque curiosamente sólo vienen 15 en el índice.
It is a book that I am
constantly consulting, since very good examples come from and very well
explained how to imitate wood and several techniques for it.
Also indicate that in
the book they put the examples with paintings of different manufacturers, not
only of AK.
Like all books in the
series Learning, in a book of glossy paper and soft cover, very good quality
and bill, for only 10, - €, 84 pages and structured in 16 chapters, but
curiously only 15 in the index .
El primer capítulo, y
el que hasta ahora he consultado y aprovechado más, es sobre el pintado de
barriles, tanto cuando los presentamos en vertical como en horizontal.
Aunque el trabajo
inicial es el mismo para ambas posiciones, el trabajo de iluminación y
envejecimiento es diferente en cada uno de ellos.
Aunque al final son
dos conjunto de técnicas que el pintor podrá combinarlas entre ellas, si es de
su interés.
The first chapter, and
the one that until now I have consulted and took more advantage, is about the
painting of barrels, both when presented in vertical and horizontal.
Although the initial
work is the same for both positions, the work of lighting and aging is
different in each of them.
Although in the end are
two set of techniques that the painter can combine them, if it is of interest.
El segundo capítulo habla sobre los mangos de madera de las
herramientas que podemos encontrar, principalmente, en los vehículos militares.
Un paso a paso muy interesante, en especial para escalas de
1/56 (28mm) y superior.
The second chapter talks about the wooden
handles of the tools that we can find, mainly, in military vehicles.
A very interesting step by step, especially for
scales of 1/56 (28mm) and above.
En prácticamente todos los capítulos, se explica que la
pieza a pintar se le aplica un color madera determinado, el que queramos darle
nosotros, y a partir de este momento, a base de filtros y lavados, iremos dándole
un efecto más o menos gastado.
In practically all the chapters, it is
explained that the piece to be painted is given a specific wood color, the one
that we want to give it to us, and from this moment, based on filters and
washes, we will give it a more or less spent effect.
En el tercer capítulo, como pintar cajas de municiones, es
bien patente que los filtros y lavados con el centro neurálgico del efecto
realista de madera.
In the third chapter, how to paint boxes of

En el capítulo del pintado de un carro de madera, nos
explican, bastante someramente (lástima) como dar el efecto de madera gastada
por el efecto del sol, consiguiendo ese efecto de madera gris característico de
madera largo tiempo expuesto al efecto del astro rey.
In the chapter of the painting of a wooden car,
they explain to us, quite superficially (pity) how to give the effect of wood

Realmente sobre este tema de madera “quemada” por el sol, se
debería hablar largo y tendido, casi para llenar un solo libro.

El quinto capítulo nos enseñan a utilizar el efecto
chipping, cuando representamos la madera pintada y gastada por la intemperie y
el uso.

Si en el quinto capítulo nos enseñan a representar la madera
desgastada, en el sexto nos enseñan a envejecerlo. Nos enseñan a utilizar
diferentes herramientas no habituales para la mayoría de maquetistas, como los
cepillo metálicos, tanto de acero como de latón, para dar ese efecto de
descastado y envejecido a los listones de madera, incluso antes de montar la
puerta de ejemplo.
If in the fifth chapter we are taught to
represent worn wood, in the sixth we are taught how to age it. They teach us to
use different tools that are not usual for most model makers, such as metal
brushes, both made of steel and brass, to give that effect of outdated and aged
wood slats, even before mounting the example door.
El craqueado manual de la pintura que nos enseñan, es muy interesante,
aunque actualmente ya existen productos para ofrecer este efecto que no
desmerecen para nada el efecto conseguido.
The manual cracking of the paint they teach us
is very interesting, although there are currently products to offer this effect
that does not detract from the effect achieved at all.
El séptimo capítulo realmente es un ejemplo de la puesta en
práctica de todo lo enseñado en los capítulos anteriores.
The seventh chapter really is an example of the
implementation of everything taught in the previous chapters.
A más, nos “iluminan” con trucos muy curiosos.

Creo que son unos de los mejores trucos que se pueden ver en
todo el libro, muy escasamente explicados.

I think they are some of the best tricks that
can be seen throughout the book, very sparsely explained.
Otro de los mejores trucos explicados en el siguiente
capítulo, en las dos escasas páginas abarrotadas de imágenes en un paso a paso,
sobre como obtener el efecto craqueado y desgastado de unas vallas de jardín.
Another of the best tricks explained in the next
chapter, in the two scarce pages crowded with images in a step by step, on how
to obtain the cracked and worn out effect of some garden fences.
En el noveno capítulo, nos explican como envejecer y
desgastar un bote.
Personalmente encuentro que me sobra la explicación de como
construir un bote a base de listones de madera para construcción de barcos, en
dos páginas, y una doble página con una imagen que no clarifica que se quiere
presentar, cuando otras técnicas merecen la pena haber utilizado estas páginas
en ahondar con más explicaciones e imágenes.
Es otro ejemplo de como aplicar lo explicado en los
capítulos anteriores, pero añadiendo efecto mojado y pigmentos de acumulación
de barro.
In the ninth chapter, they explain how to age
and wear a boat.
Personally I find that I have an explanation of
how to build a boat based on wooden slats for building boats, in two pages, and
a double page with an image that does not clarify what you want to present,
when other techniques are worth having used These pages will delve into more
explanations and images.
It is another example of how to apply what was
explained in the previous chapters, but adding wet effect and mud accumulation
pigments.
El décimo capítulo nos explica como imitar el color de
madera en cubiertas de barcos, tanto de plástico como de madera.
Básicamente son las mismas técnicas que para los barriles,
pero especializándose en las cubiertas de barcos, utilizando de otra forma las
mismas técnicas.
Muy interesante para quienes queramos crear una pequeña viñeta de una cubierta de barco o un pequeño
muelle de amarre de barcas de un rio o puerto de mar.
The tenth chapter explains how to imitate the
color of wood on boat decks, both plastic and wood.
Basically they are the same techniques as for
the barrels, but specializing in the decks of ships, using the same techniques
differently.
Very interesting for those who want to create a
small vignette of a boat deck or a small mooring dock of boats of a river or
seaport.
En el 11º capítulo, nos explican como pintar el casco de un
barco o barca, para conseguir tnto el efecto de barca nueva, como no tanto.
In the 11th chapter, they explain how to paint
the hull of a boat or boat, to get the effect of a new boat, as not so much.
El doceavo capítulo, que no está indicado en el índice, es
una prolongación del anterior, pero que merece un capítulo aparte, tal como han
hecho.
Nos explican como se utiliza el efecto chipping, pero creo
que es más importante la explicación (la imagen, realmente) de como se debe
enmascarar con cinta (foto 12).
The twelfth chapter, which is not indicated in
the index, is an extension of the previous one, but it deserves a separate
chapter, just as they have done.
They explain how the chipping effect is used,
but I think the explanation (the image, really) of how to mask it with tape is
more important (photo 12).
El siguiente capítulo nos explica los pasos necesarios a
realizar para representar un tejado de piezas de madera, envejecido, desgastado
y enmohecido.
The following chapter explains the necessary
steps to be taken to represent a roof of pieces of wood, aged, worn and moldy.
Interesante el tema del pintado de ventanas y
contraventanas, así como la creación de las maderas para representar la madera
vista en los edificios medievales de Centroeuropa, de la época medieval y
renacentista.
Estos dos apartados no son muy de explicar en este libro,
que trata de efecto madera y no de construcción de elementos de madera, pero es
de agradecer, aunque podrían haberse utilizado el espacio para ahondar más en
otros temas.
Interesting the subject of the painting of
windows and shutters, as well as the creation of the wood to represent the wood
seen in the medieval buildings of Central Europe, medieval and Renaissance.
These two sections are not much to explain in
this book, which deals with wood effect and not construction of wooden
elements, but it is appreciated, although the space could have been used to
delve more into other issues.
El capítulo catorce, es uno de los más interesantes, ya que
explica una forma de representar el veteado de la madera, sobre una maqueta de
plástico liso.
Muy, muy interesante.
Chapter fourteen is one of the most
interesting, as it explains a way to represent the grain of the wood, on a
plain plastic model.
Very very interesting.
Si en el anterior capítulo se enseña a pintar plástico
imitando madera, y poner como ejemplo el pintado de un avión de la 1GM, en el
quinceavo nos explica como realizarlo con el interior de otro avión de la misma
contienda.
If in the previous chapter you are taught to
paint plastic imitating wood, and to give as an example the painting of an
aircraft of the 1GM, in the fifteenth it explains how to do it with the
interior of another airplane of the same war.
Por último, una explicación de porque utilizar siempre que
se pueda madera real para nuestras miniaturas, y porque representar efecto
madera siempre que se pueda, en especial en vehículos de la 2GM, que se usaba
casi todo de madera, lo que hoy utilizamos con plásticos o fibra de vidrio
(cajas de armas, de municiones, de comida, añadidos a los tanques y otros
vehículos,…).
Finally, an explanation of why we always use
real wood for our miniatures, and because we can represent wood effects
whenever possible, especially in 2GM vehicles, which used almost all wood,
which we use today with plastics or fiberglass (boxes of weapons, ammunition,
food, added to tanks and other vehicles, ...).
Por último comentar que este libro es más una guía de lo que
podemos llegar a hacer, que un paso a paso real, ya que hay técnicas muy
extensas escasamente explicadas y trucos muy interesantes que es un susurro más
que una explicación.
Para mi es un libro demasiado parco en páginas, como para poder
explicar extensamente todas las técnicas y trucos habidos y por haber sobre el
efecto madera.
Y, desde mi punto de vista, se podrían haber utilizado las
páginas de relleno para ahondar en las técnicas someramente explicadas.
Lo bueno es que te lo indican, para que las mentes inquietas
profundicen más buscando en otros libros y lugares, aprendiendo de como lo
hacen otros maquetistas.
Finally comment that this book is more a guide
to what we can do, than a real step by step, since there are very extensive
techniques poorly explained and very interesting tricks that is a whisper
rather than an explanation.
For me it is a book too sparse in pages, so as
to be able to explain extensively all the techniques and tricks that have been
done and for having about the wood effect.
And, from my point of view, the filler pages
could have been used to delve into the techniques briefly explained.
The good thing is that they indicate it to you,
so that restless minds go deeper in search of other books and places, learning
from the way other models do.
Una vez visto a conciencia este libro, en cuanto vemos un
efecto madera de algún buen pintor, ya no diremos aquello de “Wooala!!!, que
pasada!!!”, si no que diremos “¡eh! ¡Esto se hace así y de aquella manera!”.
Once seen this book, as soon as we see a wood
effect of a good painter, we will not say that of "Woo !!!, what happened
!!!", otherwise we will say "hey! This is done like that and that
way! "
