[Die Cast] 1/40 Ford Woody - Part 5, Pigments and finally.
Se ha estado trabajando sobre este vehículo familiar, icónico desde finales de los 40’s y durante todo los 50’s en USA, y que prácticamente todas las familias de clase media, tenían uno, no sólo de la marca Ford, como el este vehículo, sino de las 3 ó 4 fabricantes más que habían en aquella época,
Es un trabajo que empecé desde mediados de junio, al principio muy lentamente, y es una auténtica satisfacción haber terminado.
Un trabajo de Weathering total, pero sin llegar a ser extremo, de vehículo abandonado.
It has been working on this iconic family vehicle since the late 40's and throughout the 50's in the USA, and that practically all middle-class families had one, not only from the Ford brand, like this vehicle, but from the 3 or 4 manufacturers more than there were at that time,
It is a job that I started in mid-June, very slowly at first, and it is a real satisfaction to have finished.
A total Weathering job, but without being extreme, of an abandoned vehicle.
Para ser el primer coche de juguete que realizo, y un envejecimiento total de un vehículo no militar, debo indica que es mejorable. Un vehículo militar lo encuentro más fácil de realizar y siempre es más espectacular. Un vehículo civil, siempre tiene un mayor cuidado personal, un mimo, por mucho que se deje en exceso sin un mantenimiento rutinario.
To be the first toy car that I make, and a total aging of a non-military vehicle, I must indicate that it can be improved. I find a military vehicle easier to make and it is always more spectacular. A civil vehicle always has a greater personal care, a pampering, no matter how much it is left in excess without routine maintenance.
En el anterior artículo habíamos dejado el vehículo en condiciones de dejadez, pero no abandonado, ahora sólo falta el toque final, el polvo de haber estado en funcionamiento.

Luces traseras - Taillights
En el anterior artículo, se colocó la pieza de las luces traseras, pero no se comentó ni se pintó.
Esta pieza viene en negro en el juguete y en los vehículos originales, no en los reconstruidos, no está ni pintada del color de la carrocería ni en cromado.
Estas luces traseras tienen las dos luces, la de freno y el intermitente de giro.
El color rojo que vienen estas luces, no es del todo de mi gusto, por lo que decido repintarlos.
In the previous article, the taillight piece was fitted but not commented on or painted.
This part comes in black on the toy and on original vehicles, not rebuilt ones, it is neither painted body color nor chrome.
These taillights have both lights, the brake and the turn signal.
The red color that these lights come in is not entirely to my liking, so I decide to repaint them.
Para ello he utilizado:
- Rojo Mate (Model Color 957-031), para el cristal de los frenos, mitad superior.
- Naranja Fluo (Model Color 733-207), para el cristal de los intermitentes de aviso de giro, mitad inferior.
For this I have used:
- Flat Red (Model Color 957-031), for the brake glass, upper half.
- Orange Fluo (Model Color 733-207), for the turn signal indicator glass, lower half.
Funda rueda de recambio - Spare wheel cover
Este modelo lleva la rueda de recambio fijada en la portezuela trasera.
Para envejecerla, se usan los mismos colores que para el resto de la carrocería.
This model has the spare wheel attached to the rear door.
To age it, the same colors are used as for the rest of the bodywork.
- Barniz Mate (Auxiliar 520), para poder aplicar los siguientes envejecimientos.
- Cadmio Naranja Claro (Acrylic Artis Color 502), para el primer desgaste.
- Amarillo Hasa Pálido (Acrylic Artis Color 401), para el segundo desgaste.
- Blanco de Titanio (Acrylic Artis Color 303), para el tercer desgaste.
- Matte Varnish (Auxiliary 520), to be able to apply the following aging.
- Cadmium Orange Light (Acrylic Artis Color 502), for the first wear.
- Hansa Yellow Light (Acrylic Artis Color 401), for the second wear.
- Titanium White (Acrylic Artis Color 303), for the third wear.

Sólo indicar que estos colores deben estar muy diluidos, ya que deben aplicarse como filtro, para poder aplicar la técnica del Mapping con colores transparentes.

Just indicate that these colors must be very diluted, since they must be applied as a filter, in order to apply the Mapping technique with transparent colors.
Óxido de los cromados - Chrome oxide
Para aplicar el óxido de los cromados, se aplica el Lavado Sepia (Game Color Wash 300), tal como se explica en Chasis y Ruedas.
To apply the oxide of the chrome plating, the Sepia Wash (Game Color Wash 300) is applied, as explained in Chassis and Wheels.
Este lavado se aplica también con la técnica de Mapping.
This wash is also applied with the Mapping technique.
La rueda de recambio, con los desgastes y el óxido del cromado.

Montaje - Mounting
Una vez se tienen todas las piezas cromadas pintadas, se procede a su montaje.
Lo primero que se monta la parte trasera, empezando por la rueda de recambio.
Once all the chrome parts are painted, they are assembled.
The rear part is mounted first, starting with the spare wheel.

Se sigue con la parte frontal, primero con los faros.
It continues with the front, first with the headlights.
El embellecedor del radiador.
The radiator trim.
Y por último el parachoques frontal.
And finally the front bumper.
Ya está montado todo, y se cierra el vehículo, aplicando los tornillos que se sacaron al principio.
Everything is already assembled, and the vehicle is closed, applying the screws that were removed at the beginning.
Pigmentos - Pigments
Para dar un aspecto más natural, debemos aplicar pigmentos. Se ha optado por aplicar pigmentos un poco más de lo que se debería aplicar en un coche cuidado, pero con un uso diario.
Para ello se han utilizado unos pocos elementos no muy habituales, además de los pigmentos.
To give a more natural look, we must apply pigments. It has been chosen to apply pigments a little more than what should be applied in a neat car, but with daily use.
A few unusual elements have been used for this, in addition to pigments.
- Cinta de enmascarar de 10mm de ancho (Hobby Tools T07006), para enmascarar la zona que no se quiere con polvo.
- Pincel Toray redondo plano de pelo blando (fabricante desconocido), para aplicar los pigmentos.
- Pincel sintético nº4 (Vallejo P9046), para eliminación del exceso de pigmentos.
- Tierra Europea (Vallejo Pigments 119), como polvo más antiguo y para oscurecer.
- Polvo Desierto (Vallejo Pigments 121), para el polvo más reciente y el de la parte superior.
- 10mm wide masking tape (Hobby Tools T07006), to mask the area that is not wanted with dust.
- Toray flat round brush with soft hair (unknown manufacturer), to apply the pigments.
- Synthetic brush nº4 (Vallejo P9046), for eliminating excess pigments.
- European Earth (Vallejo Pigments 119), as older powder and to darken.
- Desert Dust (Vallejo Pigments 121), for the most recent powder and that of the upper part.
Antes de aplicar los pigmentos, se debe tapar la zona del limpiaparabrisas.
Para ello usamos la cita de 10mm y marcamos la longitud de las escobillas y de todo el conjunto de los limpiaparabrisas.
Before applying pigments, the wiper area should be covered.
For this we use the 10mm quotation and mark the length of the blades and the entire set of wipers.
Con un compás de dibujo, se marcan los arcos del recorrido de la escobilla.

Repasamos las líneas con el rotulador indeleble, ya que el lápiz en esta cinta cuesta verse.
We go over the lines with the indelible marker, since the pencil on this tape is difficult to see.
Se cortan las plantillas y se colocan en su posición en el parabrisas.
The templates are cut out and placed in position on the windshield.
Primero se aplica el pigmento de Tierra Europea, aplicándolo en todo el vehículo levemente, pero insistiendo en la mitad inferior.
The European Earth pigment is applied first, applying it to the entire vehicle lightly, but insisting on the lower half.
Y después el Polvo de Desierto, pero sólo en la mitad superior del vehículo, incidencia en la parte de encima de la carrocería y, especialmente, en los cristales, pero sin excederse.
Los cristales se limpian dejando rastros alrededor.
And then the Desert Dust, but only in the upper half of the vehicle, impact on the part above the bodywork and, especially, on the windows, but without exceeding it.
The crystals are cleaned leaving traces around.
Con los pigmentos aplicados, se sacan las piezas de enmascaramiento del parabrisas.
With the pigments applied, the masking pieces are removed from the windshield.
Fotos finales - Final photos
Antes de colocar las fotos finales, es interesante que recordemos como era el vehículo la primera semana de junio, antes de empezar con el desmontaje.
Before placing the final photos, it is interesting that we remember what the vehicle was like the first week of June, before starting with the disassembly.
La diferencia entre el antes y el después, es evidente.
