28mm Belchite. El Carbonero Olive Oil Factories - Part 2
En el anterior trabajo realizado a la fábrica
de aceite El Carbonero, quedó preparado con la textura, para aplicar los
efectos de ambiente y de desgaste, lo que llamaremos weathering.
Aunque los trabajos de Weathering se terminen para la fábrica,
aun nos quedarán unas piezas por montar y pintar, ya que todavía no han sido
finalizadas.
Estas piezas con los balcones, los pisos, la chimenea y los
tejados. Todos ellos por impresión 3D y ya los trataremos en un artículo más
adelante.
Lo primero es dar las gracias a los compañeros que se han
puesto manos a la obra: Kaltor Mactabish, Pere Rabadan e Ignasi Castro. Sin
ellos, de momento la fábrica le faltaría como poco una sesión más de trabajo.
In the previous work carried out at the El
Carbonero oil factory, he was prepared with the texture, to apply the
effects of environment and wear, which we will call weathering.
Although the weathering works are finished for
the factory, we will still have some pieces to assemble and paint, since they
have not yet been completed.
These pieces with balconies, floors, fireplace
and roofs. All of them by 3D printing and we will discuss them in an article
later.
The first thing is to thank the colleagues who
have got down to work: Kaltor Mactabish, Pere Rabadan and Ignasi Castro.
Without them, at the moment the factory would lack at least one more work
session.
En el anterior artículo se terminó todo el trabajo del texturado
de las fachadas de los edificios.
Por ello, lo que se ha hecho en esta sesión de trabajo, ha
sido pintar el suelo con color cemento.
Desconozco si el suelo de la fábricas era de cemento o de
terrazo, ya que ambos acabados eran habituales antes de la guerra.
Pero por comodidad, se ha pintado de color cemento.
In the previous article all the work of the
texture of the facades of the buildings was finished.
Therefore, what has been done in this work
session has been to paint the floor with cement color.
I don't know if the factory floor was cement or
terrazzo, since both finishes were common before the war.
But for convenience, it has been painted cement
color.
Con más tiempo se hubiesen hecho impresiones en color, imitando
suelos de terrazo y alguna de las naves hubiese acabado con estas impresiones
puestas.
Es una técnica muy utilizada para casas de muñecas que dan
muy buen resultado, si se graban las líneas entre terrazos.
El color Gris Cemento de nuestro patrocinador Vallejo (Model
Air 045) se aplica con pincel, dando un acabado muy realista.
With more time they would have made color
prints, imitating terrazzo floors and some of the ships would have finished
with these prints on.
It is a technique widely used for dollhouses
that give very good results, if the lines between terrazzo are engraved.
The Cement Gray color of our sponsor Vallejo
(Model Air 045) is applied with a brush, giving a very realistic finish.
El motivo de no aplicarlo con aerógrafo es que enmascarar, tapar,
todo el interior del edificio una vez montado, nos comportaba un gasto de
tiempo superior a hacerlo con pincel.
The reason for not applying it with an airbrush
is that masking, covering, the entire interior of the building once assembled,
meant a greater amount of time to do it with a brush.
Una vez aplicado el color Cemento, se aplica una capa base
en todas las paredes exteriores con Off White (Model Air 270) y con un pincel
semi seco, pinceladas verticales de Blanco Titanio (Acrylic Studio 11),
confiriendo un efecto de cal que poco a poco, por efecto de la lluvia, va
desapareciendo, dejando entre ver el blanco ocre del color base.
Once the Cement color is applied, a base coat
is applied on all exterior walls with Off White (Model Air 270) and with a
semi-dry brush, vertical strokes of Titanium White (Acrylic Studio 11),
conferring a lime effect that little little by little, as a result of the rain,
it disappears, leaving between seeing the ocher white of the base color.
Aunque parece que no está muy pintado, la diferencia entre
uno de los edificios con la fachada terminada de pintar y otro a falta de todo,
es clara.

En este punto también se pinta la jácena central de la nave
más grande.
En esta pieza se ha optado por no poner masilla para
eliminas la línea de unión de las dos piezas, ya que de esta forma da la
sensación de que la jácena ha sido fabricada con dos perfiles de hierro
soldadas entre sí.
Como muchas veces sucedía.
El color usado para esta jácena y sus vigas ha sido el Gris
Basalto (Model Color 869-162).
At this point the central jácena of the largest
ship is also painted.
In this piece it has been decided not to put
putty to eliminate the line of union of the two pieces, since in this way it
gives the feeling that the jácena has been manufactured with two iron profiles
welded together.
As it often happened.
The color used for this jácena and its beams
has been Basalt Gray (Model Color 869-162).
Otro color que era muy utilizado en esa época, era un color
verde, pero no quedaba bien con el conjunto.
Todo el conjunto con el pintado base terminado, sólo queda realizar
el weathering a todo el conjunto.
Lo primero que se realiza es el texturado de los muros de corcho.
Para ello se utiliza una sierra antes del pintado, “raspando”
la cara con fuerza.
Esta técnica se enseñará en el taller que se realizará en
las mismas DAU 2019, el domingo 24 por la mañana.
Más adelante realizaré un tutorial de los mismo, cuando haga
muros para miniaturas de 28mm.
Another color that was widely used at that
time, was a green color, but it did not fit well with the set.
The whole set with the finished base painted,
only the whole set is weathering.
The first thing that is done is the texture of
the cork walls.
For this a saw is used before painting,
"scraping" the face with force.
This technique will be taught in the workshop
that will be held in the same DAU 2019, Sunday 24 in the morning.
Later I will make a tutorial of them, when I
make walls for miniatures of 28mm.
Con los muros texturizados, se procede a darle hacer los
impactos y roturas de los mismos.
Para ello, como ya se explicó en el anterior artículo, se
realiza con unos alicates de modelista.
With the textured walls, we proceed to make the
impacts and breaks of them.
For this, as explained in the previous article,
it is done with a modeling pliers.
El resultado visual, a falta del pintado, a mí me parece muy
convincente.
The visual result, for lack of painting, seems
very convincing to me.
Para el pintado se realiza de la misma forma que para las
paredes de las fachadas de los edificios. Primero el Off White con aerógrafo y después
el pincel semiseco con el blanco Titanio.
For painting it is done in the same way as for
the walls of the facades of the buildings. First the Off White with airbrush
and then the semi-dry brush with the Titanium white.
(Nota Mental: La próxima vez que trabaje con corcho,
recordar de aplicar un par de capas de imprimación de Vallejo, con espray o con aerógrafo, ya que si
no se aplican las dos capas, el corcho “chupará” el color base, por lo que
deberemos aplicar este color 3 ó 4 veces para que quede medianamente bien).
(Mental Note: The next time you work with cork,
remember to apply a couple of coats of Vallejo primer, spray or airbrush,
because if the two layers are not applied, the cork will “suck” the base color,
for what we will have to apply this color 3 or 4 times so that it is moderately
good).
En estos momentos se tienen las fachadas y los muros con un
color blanco “desvaído”, como si la cal aplicada en ellas se ha ido marchando
con el efecto de las lluvias.
Para el weathering sólo aplicaremos dos efectos, para no
recargar en exceso los edificios.
Si fuese para hacer una viñeta, y con mucho más tiempo, aplicaría
muchas técnicas y efectos para ese ensuciado ambiental.
Lo primero que se hace es aplicar pigmento Marrón Óxido de
Hierro (Pigmento 104), ya que es muy aproximado al color terracota de los
ladrillos.
In these moments the facades and the walls have
a “faded” white color, as if the lime applied to them has gone away with the
effect of the rains.
For weathering we will only apply two effects,
so as not to overload the buildings.
If it were to make a vignette, and with much
more time, I would apply many techniques and effects for that environmental
mess.
The first thing that is done is to apply Brown
Iron Oxide pigment (Pigment 104), since it is very approximate to the
terracotta color of the bricks.

un impacto y deja al descubierto los ladrillos.
This pigment is applied in all parts where
there has been an impact and exposes the bricks.
El siguiente efecto es el moho.
Podemos utilizar Suciedad Húmeda Clara y la oscura, de la
gama serie Efectos de la Naturaleza, de la gama Weathering Effects de Vallejo,
que nos dará un efecto precioso.
Pero por el poco tiempo de que disponemos y porque no se
apreciará el detalle de este producto en estas casas para wargame, se ha optado
por aplicar los Washes Verde Oliva y Verde oscuro (al sistema antiguo).
The next effect is mold.
We can use Light and Dark Wet Dirt, from the
series Effects of Nature series, from the Weathering Effects range of Vallejo,
which will give us a beautiful effect.
But for the short time we have and because the
detail of this product will not be appreciated in these houses for wargame, it
has been decided to apply the Olive Green and Dark Green Washes (to the old
system).
Estos lavados se utilizan indistintamente para dar el efecto
de moho, consiguiendo dar mayor o menos intensidad, dependiendo del Wash utilizado.
These washes are used interchangeably to give
the effect of mold, getting more or less intensity, depending on the Wash used.
Ya tenemos terminada la fábrica, a falta de la chimenea, los
balcones y los tejados, tal como se ha indicado al principio. Por lo que el
conjunto queda así.
We have finished the factory, in the absence of
the chimney, the balconies and the roofs, as indicated at the beginning. So
the set looks like this.

Los impactos en las fachadas sólo se han aplicado a las
caras que dan al ataque inicial de los republicanos, por el oeste y norte, por
lo que las fachadas de los lados este y sur de la fábrica no se han tocado,
aunque los muros si que se han castigado con impactos.
The impacts on the facades have only been
applied to the faces that give the initial attack of the Republicans, by the
west and north, so that the facades of the east and south sides of the factory
have not been touched, although the walls have that have been punished with
impacts.
