Antes de iniciar este proceso, he estado buscando imágenes
de la Guerra del Golfo y hay una peculiaridad interesante: la gran mayoría de
los vehículos enviados a Kuwait, terminaron con muchos desconchones y zonas
verdes.
Pero… ¿Por qué pasaba esto?
Después de investigar un poco he descubierto que antes de
este conflicto, todos los vehículos norteamericanos eran verdes o con
camuflajes para zonas boscosas.
Unos meses antes del conflicto, los ejércitos norteamericanos
repintaron encima de sus antiguos esquemas verdes con el color desierto.
Según parece, esta pintura no era de la calidad adecuada,
porque entre el mes largo antes de ser enviados a Kuwait, más los dos o tres
meses que estuvieron antes de iniciar los combates, fueron suficientes para que
la pintura saltase con relativa facilidad ante el desgaste característicos de
estos vehículos.
Y el M163 no estuvo exento de ello.
Before
starting this process, I have been looking for images of the Gulf War and there
is an interesting peculiarity: the vast majority of vehicles sent to Kuwait,
ended with many chipped and green areas.
But ... Why
was this happening?
After
investigating a bit I discovered that before this conflict, all American
vehicles were green or camouflaged for wooded areas.
A few
months before the conflict, the American armies repainted their old green
schemes with desert color.
Apparently,
this painting was not of the right quality, because between the long month
before being sent to Kuwait, plus the two or three months before the fighting
began, it was enough for the painting to jump with relative ease before the
painting. characteristic wear of these vehicles.
And the
M163 was not exempt from it.

chipping, but this time with green.
Desconchones - Chipping
Más que desconchones, he realizado rozaduras a base de
manchar con espuma alguna zonas. Tanto las ya pintadas anteriormente con color
gris oscuro, como zonas nuevas que he observado es un desgaste bastante
frecuente, pero sin llegar a verse el color gris oscuro del metal.
Para ello se ha usado:

For this purpose, it has been used:
- Verde Militar (Model Color 975-089), para el color verde

- Gris Oscuro (Model Color 994-166), para el metal al
descubierto.
- Military Green (Model Color 975-089), for the
original green color exposed.
- Dark Gray (Model Color 994-166), for bare
metal.
Aplicar el Verde Militar se ha realizado mediante la técnica
de la esponja, eliminado el exceso de pintura previamente en un papel
absorbente, como por ejemplo una servilleta.

technique of the sponge, removing excess paint previously on an absorbent
paper, such as a napkin.
El resultado es muy convincente.

Este color verde se aplica en todas las áreas que podrían
ser propensas al desgaste por el constante roce con botas, manos y otros
elementos.

could be prone to wear due to the constant rubbing with boots, hands and other
elements.
Se incrementa este efecto en las zonas que anteriormente se
aplicó Gris Oscuro.
This effect is increased in the areas that were
previously applied Dark Gray.
Pero de una forma leve.

Después de aplicar el verde con esponja, se pinta de verde a
pincel los bordes de las zonas que ya estaban pintadas de Gris Oscuro.

Aunque también se aplica Gris oscuro en zonas que se han creado
manchas demasiado grandes de Verde Militar.

En la torreta del Vulcan, este efecto se debe realizar mucho
más escaso.
El motivo es que al ser una pieza relativamente más pequeña,
si realizamos este efecto con la misma intensidad, la sensación de exageración
sería notable.

Las ruedas tampoco se han salvado del efecto, pero no lo he
realizado en todas ellas y, a más, muy escaso.

Aguadas-Churretones
/ Watery-splodges
Ya tenemos el efecto desconchón aplicado.
Ahora le toca realizar el efecto de pintura desgastada por
las inclemencias del sol y el tiempo.

Now it is up to him to realize the effect of
paint worn by the inclemencies of the sun and the weather.
Es curioso ver en alguna fotografía de internet, como un
vehículo de combate en zona desértica, pueden tener churretones en los
laterales, especialmente.
Por ello pregunté a conocidos que habían conducido M-113.
Estos me explicaron que después de una maniobra, se deben
limpiar a concienca estos vehículos, pero que si el agua escaseaba, sólo
aplicaban agua a presión en cantidad limitada, por lo que al secarse el agua,
el polvo acumulado sobre el vehículo, dejaba rastros y era normal que estos
churretones estuviesen presentes.

That's why I asked acquaintances who had driven
M-113.
They explained to me that after a maneuver,
these vehicles should be cleaned, but if water was scarce, they only applied
pressurized water in a limited amount, so when the water dried, the dust
accumulated on the vehicle left traces and it was normal that these churretones
were present.
Para realizar estos chorretones, lo más normal es utilizar
oleos.
Pero para esta ocasión he optado por explicar la técnica con
acrílicos para hacer el mismo efecto y resultado.
Diferencias: no utilizar diluyentes agresivos. No soportar
el olor a óleo o/y diluyente. No tener que esperar 24 horas para aplicar otros
efectos o capas.
To make these splodges, the most normal thing
is to use oils.
But for this occasion I have chosen to explain the
technique with acrylics to make the same effect and result.
Differences: do not use aggressive thinners. Do
not withstand the smell of oil and / or thinner. Not having to wait 24 hours to
apply other effects or layers.
Para ello he utilizado:
- Amarillo de Marte (Acrylic Artist Color 304), como tono
ocre.
- Blanco de Titanio (Acrylic Artist Color 303), como tono
blanco.
- Hansa Pálico (Acrylic Artist Color 401), como tono
amarillo.
- Sombra Natural (Acrylic Artist Color 308), como tono
marrón.
- Diluyente para aerógrafo (Auxiliar 361), para diluir los
colores acrílicos.
For this I have used:
- Yellow of Mars (Acrylic Artist Color 304),
like ocher tone.
- Titanium white (Acrylic Artist Color 303), as
a white tone.
- Hansa Pálico (Acrylic Artist Color 401), as a
yellow tone.
- Natural shade (Acrylic Artist Color 308), as
a brown tone.
- Diluent for airbrush (Auxiliary 361), to
dilute the acrylic colors.
La forma de aplicar estos colores es idéntica al de los
óleos, por medio de puntitos de colores.

that of oils, by means of colored dots.
Para esta técnica se usará, a ser posible, un pincel peine.

Por cierto, podemos colocar todos los puntitos de colores
sin necesidad de ir demasiado rápido, ya que:
a) Estos acrílicos tardan algo más de lo normal en secar,
cosa que nos facilita bien el trabajo.
b) Este diluyente permite diluir los acrílicos, aunque lleven
bastantes minutos con la capa superior seca.
By the way, we can place all the colored dots
without going too fast, because:
a) These acrylics take a little longer than
normal to dry, which makes work easier for us.
b) This diluent makes it possible to dilute the
acrylics, even if they take several minutes with the top layer dry.
Este pincel lo mojamos con diluyente para aerógrafo limpio,
y realizamos pasadas de arriba abajo, hasta dejar un débil rastro de estos
colores, a modo de churretones, igual que cuando lo hacemos con óleos.
This brush
we wet with thinner for clean airbrush, and we made passes from top to bottom,
to leave a faint trace of these colors, like splodges, as when we do with oils.
El resultado final es el mismo que con los óleos.

Y aquí se puede ver el resultado final del trabajo, tanto de
los desconchones como de los churretones.

No sólo se debe realizar este efecto en los laterales, sino
que están importante hacerlo también en la zona superior.

Y el efecto también se puede ver en la torreta.

Aunque en las ruedas, sólo he aplicado el Sombra natural,
para dar una sensación de suciedad, que ya incrementaremos un poco más
adelante.

natural shade, to give a feeling of dirt, which we will increase a little
later.
